Description
Saul Tepper paints a stark warning against "Careless Talk" in this graphic image from 1944. The dramatic scene of a soldier carrying his wounded (or worse) comrade is a stern reminder to the American public on the home-front to be mindful of what they say in public.
During the Second World War, there was a constant concern in the United States about inappropriate information being overheard or intercepted by enemy agents both domestically and abroad.
Saul Tepper (1899-1987) began his career as a typographer for catalogs. He transitioned into a role as a commercial illustrator in the 1930s. Towards the end of his career, Tepper became a songwriter for the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole.
