Description
Stephen Sondheim's 1942-43 George School Report Card. A printed report card accomplished in type, dated Fall Term 1942-43, in which Mr. Sondheim receives mostly "S" marks for "Superior" achievements in his courses, at the bottom is a typed comment commending him greatly, 11 x 8 1/2 inches, folds but fine; Together with four associated envelopes, three signed. These comprise: an envelope imprinted with the name and address of Mr. Sondheim's father, Herbert Sondheim, with the penciled note "Letter to Steve 8/21/43" in an unknown hand; an envelope hand-addressed to Herbert Sondheim and signed by Stephen Sondheim at upper left within a printed George School return address, postmarked April 22nd, 1944, with other markings and some toning; an envelope hand-addressed and signed from Stephen Sondheim at the George School to Herbert Sondheim, postmarked January 30th, 1946; and a later envelope hand-addressed and signed from Stephen Sondheim from his 80th Street, New York Address to Mrs. E.D. Leshin in Los Angeles (this Mr. Sondheim's mother who had married Paramount Films executive Ed Leshin in 1950), postmarked October 3rd, 1955.
