A 19th century Sweeney Todd advertising broadside. A printed advertising broadside with a large illustration for Sweeney Todd the Barber of Fleet Street. A Thrilling Story of the Old City of London. Founded on Facts, London, circa 1892, this publication is reportedly a shortened version of 13 chapters by A. Ritchie of Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, and based on the original 1846-47 story published by Edward Lloyd. About 8 x 6 inches; framed. Edgewear, small losses, creases, unexamined out of frame; Together with a print depicting Fleet Street, a 19th century engraving, about 4 1/2 x 6 inches; framed. Left and right margins trimmed, spotting.
A scarce advertising broadside for an early "penny dreadful" edition of Sweeney Todd, originally published in 1846-7 and here reimagined about 1892.
