A JUN kiln DISH
Of shallow rounded form with a gently everted rim, supported on a short circular foot. The dish is covered overall with a rich and thick flambé glaze, vividly suffused with layers of lavender blue, deep purple and crimson red, merging and flowing in a dynamic and painterly manner. The surface exhibits a lustrous and variegated quality, creating a striking sense of depth and movement. The base and footrim are left unglazed, revealing the buff-coloured body with traces of natural firing effects.
Dimensions: Width 18.6 cm (7.32 in) x Height 2.9 cm (1.14 in). All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: Karl Kampe, born in 1884 in Stockholm, Sweden, was a Swedish industrialist. He first visited China in the early 1930s and began collecting Chinese works of art, which remained in the possession of his family and descendants thereafter.
