Description
This near-complete set of 1934 V354 World Wide Gum includes 88 of the 96 cards in the set, with an impressive twenty-six Hall of Famers, including Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Tris Speaker, Lefty Grove, Rogers Hornsby and Carl Hubbell. Very similar to the classic 1934 Goudey set issued in the United States, this is the rare Canadian version issued by Goudey's World Wide Gum. This set is very similar to, but much rarer, than its American counterpart. The exact same number of cards was issued in the Canadian set, as in the American set. The V354 World Wide Gum cards #1 to 48 are identical in design to the 1933 Goudeys on the fronts; while players numbered 49 to 96 have the "Lou Gehrig says..." design on the front. The reverse text of 1934 Canadian Goudeys is printed in both French and English. This near-set is missing only eight cards for completion, including #28 Babe Ruth, #55 Dizzy Dean, #61 Grimm, #69 Durocher, #74 Cramer, #76 Coleman, #77 Solters and #86 Walker. The set has a wide range of grades with most Hall of Famers resting in the PR- to VG range.
