The underside bears an England mark with additional small symbols. The dish measures approximately 2.25 inches high by 6 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

The pierced gallery and repoussed ornament recall serving wares by Sheffield firms including Walker and Hall and James Dixon and Sons. Its ornate surface also relates to Victorian silverplate traditions associated with Elkington and Company.
