Description
LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 2312i. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1942. Top of the bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit year of mfg. "42", with Mauser Eagle/135 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. Grips are unnumbered and unproofed. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S#: "7369/ m") blued 8-rd. with aluminum plug marked with an Eagle/83. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light to mild edge wear fading to gray patina (primarily on edges of bbl., forward edges of frame, and on sideplate). Front grip strap exhibits an area of appropriate holster wear on the toe, with the rear grip strap exhibiting a couple of small spots of light wear and thinning. Excellent near mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing and a few superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain very good overall. A very attractive, high condition example of a 1942 production Mauser P.08 Luger. (25-6567/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
