RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1466036. Bbl. 24". Rifle has been assembled in the configuration of an NRA Sporter utilizing an unmarked M1922 buttstock equipped w/ the cup type checkered buttplate. Bbl. is marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 7-28". Bbl. Has been given three star markings in the 12 o'clock position. Receiver has a "1" added to the original serial number & the US appears to have been refreshed. Vintage Lyman 48 rear sight installed on receiver. Sight & slide have matching numbers. Slide graduated to 125 points. Original military rear sight has been removed from barrel, leaving the retaining pin slot visible. Standard blade front sight w/ stamped sight cover. Replacement smooth bolt w/ swept handle has been electro-penciled to match & has added "NM" marking. Receiver rails have been lightly polished & punch mark is visible approx. 1" ahead of bridge. Bolt shroud is 1903A3 type. All milled furniture. Smooth trigger. Floorplate is marked at rear "N.R.A. / N.M.". Cutoff is marked "R". Walnut stock does not have cutoff recess. CONDITION: the unmarked stock has moderate wear, staining & handling marks throughout. Notable scratch on right side in grip area. Forend tip has been very slightly trimmed. Receiver & bolt retain 80% arsenal rework finish. Bolt appears to have been polished. Bbl. has turned gray in the area where the rear sight was removed. The balance of the metal retains a large degree of its original parkerized finish. Bore has moderately worn lands w/ an area of frosting several inches ahead of the chamber. (25-1360/RW).
