Description
PISTOL. Cal. 52 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/8". Brass European screw bbl. flintlock pistol, possibly mfg. in England. Lockplate appears to exhibit a faint broad arrow proof beneath the pan, otherwise pistol is virtually devoid of any proofs or markings. Brass frame, screw bbl., trigger guard, pommel cap, and sideplate, with iron lockplate and trigger. 1-piece plain wood stock. CONDITION: brass components have acquired a pleasing mellow patina, showing scattered marks, dings, and minor dents from handling and storage. Lock assembly has faded to a dark gray patina, exhibiting moderate pitting overall. Dark bore, exhibiting a thick layer of apparent verdigris. Hammer does not hold at half cock when trigger is pulled. Stock shows scattered superficial marks and impressions, but otherwise remains sound. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27423/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
