Cal. 41. NSN. Bbl. 9". Percussion pistol mfg. in Belgium by A.E. Rync. Top flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked "A.E.RYNC", followed by a triple stamped "M", "R001", and triple stamped "823". Left quarter flat is stamped "40", with Belgian commercial proofs stamped on the left flat, partially obscured by the wood line. Right quarter flat is stamped "1", followed by "MADE IN BELGIUM". Lockplate and hammer are engraved with foliate scrollwork and floral motifs. Bbl. exhibits a blue finish overall. 1-piece plain wood stock, with foliate engraved German silver nose cap and plates (on sides of the lock), with unengraved German silver oval wedge escutcheon. Iron ramrod pipe and small grooved German silver thimble, with brass trigger guard (featuring a finger curl) and pommel cap. Dovetailed German silver blade front sight with dovetailed iron V-notch rear sight. Complete with brass ramrod. CONDITION: bbl. retains trace to fair amounts of its original blue finish, with the balance having faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Lockplate and hammer have acquired a dark gray patina, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting. Iron ramrod pipe exhibits a gray patina and scattered spots of pitting, with the engraving having mostly worn away. Brass parts have acquired a mellow patina, exhibiting what appears to be traces of silver plating. Rear trigger guard tang is split with what appears to be an older repair. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27432/MLW). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
