This large graphic sampler was worked by Anna Coats, and is embellished with stylized trees, flowering motifs, and several religious verses. Anna also included the names of her parents, William and Anna Maria Coates, and her siblings, William, Jane, Sarah, Elisabeth, Abner, Susanna, Tacy, Rachel, & Benjamin. Below that it is inscribed: Anna Coates her sampler/ 1797. Silk on linen; 24 x 20 inches framed.
