Description

Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a standing sarumawashi - traveling monkey showman - with a short bamboo stick, while his carefree pet climbs onto the bag on its master’s back. Wonderful carving capturing attitudes and facial expressions of both characters, very good detailing. Warm patina, well balanced. Height 2.4 inches.
