9th-10th century AD. Hand-shaped, of melon form with ribbed sides just under 1/2" diameter (0.49" , 12.5mm). Mottled surface with some wear. Large stringing hole. Vikings valued beads over gold and have been known to make beads as ransom or tribute to call off raids. Wonderful Viking relic and a fine centerpiece for modern jewelry creation.
