A work by Shen Zhou, the representative painter of the Wu School in the Ming Dynasty, passed down and collected by connoisseurs of successive dynasties. Color on silk, depicting a snow scene of mountains and rivers. Adopting the light crimson landscape technique of the Wu School , with vigorous brushwork and profound artistic conception; the postscript is dated "the third year of the Hongzhi reign" (a late work of Shen Zhou), conforming to his painting style in his later years. Hongzhi Period of the Ming Dynasty (late 15th century). Shen Zhou was the leader of the "Four Great Masters of the Ming Dynasty"; this vertical scroll, a late fine work of his, combines artistic and historical values, being a core collection of Ming Dynasty literati painting with few authentic works in market circulation.
