Original, one-of-a-kind folk art, Kentucky, unattributed. This primitive, dimensional carving on worn old board depicts early 1800s French General Napoleon Bonaparte with an exaggerated hooked nose and his over-the-top bicorne hat. The head is nonsensically perched atop his military boot. Hand-carved and handpainted; I do not have a date but paint/varnish loss and general condition suggest some age. Found a few years ago at an antique store outside Louisville, Kentucky. Measures 18"Wx36"Hx2"D. Naive hanging hardware on reverse.


Condition: Original Condition Unaltered; Some Imperfections; Paint/varnish loss mainly on face and ear, a little on plumage of hat. Light general wear, aging to wood board including warping (still displays great).
