Keris dagger a revered ceremonial blade originating from Indonesia Malaysia and surrounding regions of Southeast Asia The keris is one of the most culturally significant edged weapons in the world recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity This example features a dramatically undulating wavy blade ( luk ) hand-forged using layered metals that produce the highly sought-after pamor patterning visible throughout the blade. These flowing, organic lines are not decorative alone but symbolically meaningful traditionally believed to convey protection authority and spiritual power The blade is paired with an intricately carved wooden hilt sculpted in a traditional form consistent with Javanese or Balinese styles At the base of the hilt is an ornate gilt-tone mendak lavishly decorated and set with red and green stones a detail typically reserved for ceremonial or high-status pieces The dagger is housed in a classic warangka scabbard, featuring a broad, sculptural wooden upper section and a long sheath clad in engraved metal, displaying elegant floral and vine motifs The combination of carved wood and metalwork creates a commanding presentation piece, whether displayed vertically or horizontally.
