Frank Thurlo (1828 - 1913) Graphite on paper, signed lower left, measures . was active/lived in Massachusetts. Frank Thurlo is known for Coastal other landscape. Originally a carpenter, his shops in Newburyport advertised pictures, frames, and photographs. Self-taught, he was said to have introduced Martin Johnson Heade to Newburyport"s marshes. Thurlo"s own paintings, largely watercolors, depict the landscape of northeastern Essex county, particularly along the Merrimac River and views of the Plum Island marshes.
