Only 952 miles from new, number '15' of the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition 1998 Honda CB900RR 'FireBlade' Registration no. S439 SYA Frame no. JH2SC33A4WM208025 Engine no. SC33E2218725 Every so often a model comes along that rewrites the rulebook for sports motorcycles, one of the most influential of modern times being Honda's FireBlade. Launched in 1992, the FireBlade blew away the opposition - principally Yamaha's FZR1000 and Suzuki's GSX-R1100 - with its combination of litre-bike performance and a 600-sized package. Superbly styled and evocatively titled, it was recognised as a future classic almost immediately and early and unmolested examples command high prices today. Progressively developed, the Blade has occasionally fallen behind the opposition but today's version is back at the top of the tree, being recognised as one of the most rider-friendly of current hyper-sports roadsters. In 1998 Honda celebrated its 50th anniversary as a motorcycle manufacturer and to mark the occasion Honda Britain released Limited Edition versions of the CBR600F, VFR800, CBR900RR FireBlade and VTR1000 Firestorm. Production of these special models was entrusted to Russell Savory's RS Performance, the CBRs benefiting from various enhancements including different camshafts, a Proflex rear shock absorber, Dream Machine paintwork and an Akrapovic exhaust system. Number '15' of the series of 50, this FireBlade 50th Anniversary Limited Edition model was offered from the estate of the late Aled Jenkins at Bonhams' Stafford sale in October 2012 (Lot 227) where it was purchased by the private vendor and recommissioned. Acquired by Aled Jenkins in 2001 having had only one previous owner, the Honda has covered a mere 952 miles over the course of the last 28 years. The owner was thrilled to find the quote 'FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO KNOW THE MEANING OF LIGHT WEIGHT' embossed on the inside of one of the fairing panels together with the signature of Honda's Executive Project Leader, Tadao Baba. An original Anniversary Edition T-shirt and jacket set is included in the sale and the Honda also comes with original and new motorcycle covers. Dry stored and not used for some time, this motorcycle will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the last MoT was issued in September 2020 at 922 miles). There is a substantial history file containing the warranty and service booklet; owner's manual; sundry invoices; expired MoTs; manufacturer's brochures; old/current V5/V5C documents.
