Description

Gilt bronze, about ¾” (0.71”) total height. Formed as a crescent facing down crossed by an armorial bar. The significance is of a family distinguished in the crusades against Islam. Italy, particularly Genoa and Florence, were instrumental in the early (1st-4th) crusades. The back is recessed, as were crusader’s crosses, for inclusion of a holy relic, likely brought back from the Holy Land by a crusader forebear. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
