Frank Kendall “Pete” Everest Jr. (1920–2004) was one of the most accomplished test pilots of the jet age. A U.S. Air Force brigadier general, he flew more than 160 different aircraft and set multiple world speed and altitude records, including flights in the Bell X-1 and X-2 rocket planes. Everest played a key role in the testing of early jet and bomber platforms, including the B-52 program, and later served in senior leadership roles within both the Air Force and the aerospace industry. His career places him among the elite pioneers who shaped modern military aviation.
