A pair of classical engravings depicting views of Minerva, the Greek goddess, titled Minerva Armata and Minerva Egidarmata, after Pietro Fontana (1762–1837), the Italian engraver active in Rome and recognized for his work relating to the Vatican, the Papacy, and classical subjects. Each composition features a robed female figure rendered with intricate, highly descriptive linework characteristic of late 18th to early 19th century engraving. Housed in complementary black frames. One frame measure approximately 33 3/8″ H x 26 5/8″ W x 3/4″ D. In good overall condition with natural age-related discoloration and paper toning.
