See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.42, lower left for a near-identical example. The arrangement of the circles is near-symmetrical with a single larger space. The skill required to produce the rings belies the concept that the spacing is random, though its significance, undoubtedly spiritual, is now lost. Rings of this type have been found along the route to the Holy Land, and pilgrim badges are commonly found in England. After Viking settlements were established, something under half of English soil was still occupied by Anglo Saxons who frequently fought the Vikings.
