Scottish Glazed Yellow Ware Biscuit Barrel, Seaton Pottery, Aberdeen, Scotland, Dated 1895. Possibly commemorating a marriage, the barrel and lid covered in patches of blue, green and brown slip, reserved on the front with the inscription "Mrs. P Will 1895" in brown paint.H: 9.25 in., Diam: 8.125 in.According to the Aberdeen Museum, many pieces of Seaton Pottery were inscribed with women's names and a date, and they believe these were made to commemorate a marriage. It has been said that future mothers-in-law presented their new daughters-in-law with gifts of Seaton Pottery.
