
Composite US Model 1860 Style Naval Cutlass made from an 1860 Cavalry Saber

25.25" blade length. 31" overall with hilt and scabbard. Curved single edged blade with a broad fuller running all the way to the tip where it has been ground through, and mounting a steel guard with leather wrapped handle and brass plate riveted to the knuckle bow. Left ricasso struck with the maker marking MANSFIELD/&/LAMB/FORESTDALE R.I. with right ricasso displaying inspection marks U.S/C.C.S./1862. Pommel struck with the rack number 18. Comes with a stitched black leather scabbard with tin stud.

Condition
Good. Blade is buffed Bright with some nicks on the edge, weakened markings, and scratches. Steel guard has rough edge where the branches of the guard were cut off, and a brown patina dominating. Some light pitting and oxidized spots. Brass parts display a deep tarnish with scratches. Some cracking, flaking, and abrasions to guard and scabbard.
