Group of 4 US Model 1816 Socket Bayonets

Mexican American War

1) US Model 1816 Socket Bayonet. 16" fluted blade, 3" friction fit socket with T-mortise, 19" overall. Blade marked US. Metal with a thick brown patina and evenly pitted.
2) US Model 1816 Socket Bayonet. 16" fluted blade, 3" friction fit socket with T-mortise, 19" overall. Blade marked US. Obverse of shank rack marked P/46 upside down. Metal evenly oxidized with some surface roughness.
3 )US Model 1816 Socket Bayonet. Fluted blade shortened to 13.25", 3" friction fit socket with T-mortise, 16.25" overall. Blade marked US. Heavily oxidized.
4) US Model 1816 Socket Bayonet. 16" fluted blade, 3" friction fit socket with T-mortise, 19" overall. Blade marked US/JB. Socket arsenal serial numbered O/a 37. Bridge removed, socket opened up at rear.
