Philip Thal was Born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1946 and educated at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. Philip Thal was raised in historic Bucks County, PA, an area noted for its colonial heritage. As a child, he devoted himself to the study of art. He was also a lover of American History, which he would someday translate into charming etchings depicting America's colorful past. When the family moved to New York, Philip enrolled at Cooper Union to learn the art of printmaking. In 1972, he moved to the West Coast, where he established a loyal following among dealers and collectors.
