Description
This pop up art book features Walker's biting silhouettes, foregrounding the historic enslavement and mistreatment of Black women. Kara Walker's cut-paper silhouette images, a technique quite popular in the 19th century for both portraiture and narrative illustrations, are bridges between the slavery folklore of the Antebellum South and the identity and gender issues that today concern modern African American women in particular. This work comes to us from a collector who had one of the finest collections of artworks by women of color. Provenance can be disclosed upon acquisition. We do not offer in-house shipping but you can arrange your own by contacting one of these four trusted shippers who can deliver your artworks to you safely and fully insured.
