Description
Florence Pierce was the youngest and one of the only female members of the famed Transcendental Painting Group. She was part of this important group of artists who offered up new ways of seeing, born in the American West due to the ability to see both the horizon and the sky. She was a pioneer in minimalist composition as well as in materiality. Pierce invented a new process in which she combined pigment and resin, applying it on top of mirrored surfaces. Her works are included in numerous monographs and exhibitions, including the National Gallery of Art's Illumination: the paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe, Agnes Pelton, Agnes Martin, and Florence Miller Pierce. Pierce will no doubt be remembered by art history as one of the most important women artists who broke new ground in minimal and conceptual art--one of the most male dominated genres in art. I learn from her constant experimentation with different materials, understanding that pushing forward and trying new methods is fundamental in art.-Tonya Turner Carroll, curatorWe do not offer in-house shipping but you can arrange your own by contacting one of these four trusted shippers who can deliver your artworks to you safely and fully insured.
