RONTGEN WILHELM: (1845-1923) German physicist who produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays. Rontgen was the first recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physics, 1901. A.L.S., Dr. W. C. Rontgen, to the recto of his personal printed correspondence card, Cadenabbia (Lake Como, Italy), 30th March 1909, to the Court Secretariat of his Royal Highness Prince Alfons of Bavaria, in German. Rontgen writes, in full, ´Enclosed I am sending you my quarterly rent in the amount of M. 1500. With the request that you send a certificate of receipt to the address below´ and proceeds to provide the address of his hotel at Lake Como. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG
