
Description
Rare 1936 German Olympics Interpreter's jacket, medium weight navy blue wool double-breasted cut with six silver-toned buttons at front, each bearing the interlocking five Olympic rings. The jacket has an exterior breast pocket on the left, as well as two hip pockets with flap closures. A 2.25 in. cloth band with gold piping is sewn on the upper part of the left sleeve, further embroidered 'INTERPRETER INTERPRETE'. The owner was a veteran, as a Hindenburg Cross ribbon is fitted to a buttonhole in the left lapel, just above an enameled pin depicting the Olympic rings. Within, the jacket is fully lined with the sleeves lined in striped fabric, as is often found in jackets of the period. No mothing or other damage evident, in excellent condition.
