Description

(1809 - 1865) Sixteenth President of the United States who led the Union through the Civil War and emancipated the slaves, assassinated. Manuscript L.S. on a 5 x 2.75 in. sheet, Springfield, Nov. 30, 1860. Three weeks after his election to serve as 16th President of the United States, Lincoln obliges an admirer in sending the man, one Charles N. Adams, his signature: '...Dear Sir - I herewith send you my autograph which you request...' He adds a beautiful, distinct 'A. Lincoln' signature at bottom. Nicely matted in grey and gold, set into a black wood frame with gold trim, a few tiny chips scattered about and easily repaired.
