(1767 - 1845) Seventh President of the United States, 'Old Hickory' became a national hero in his defense of New Orleans and as president encouraged Western expansion and paid off the national debt. Partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. oblong folio, Washington, Feb. 10, 1831. A land grant issued to John Forsythe for a parcel in Ohio. Countersigned by ELIJAH HAYWARD (1786-1864) Commissioner of the United States General Land Office. Jackson’s superb and bold signature accomplished at lower right. Remnants of paper seal at lower left, folds and light soiling, overall very good.
