(1893 - 1969) First civilian Director of the C.I.A. and its longest-serving director to date. Dulles oversaw Operation Ajax, the Lockheed U-2 program and the Bay of Pigs invasion. His volume, ‘The Craft of Intelligence’ (New York: Harper & Row, 1963), First Edition, 277pp. 8vo., signed on dedication page: ‘To Ray Depuy with the author’s sincere regards Allen W. Dulles May 11, 1966’. A newspaper clipping affixed to first free endpaper along with a library stamp, dustjacket clipped at top (presumably to remove price), and exhibiting wear, interior pages very good.
