(1901 - 2000) American cartoonist, author, and painter. He is best known for his work in Disney comic books, as the writer and artist of the first Donald Duck stories and as the creator of Scrooge McDuck. He worked anonymously until late in his career; fans dubbed him 'The Duck Man' and 'The Good Duck Artist'. His work was an early influence for R. Crumb and other underground cartoonists as well as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. A monograph of 40 color drawings of Barks' signature Disney characters, Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and Huey, Dewey and Louie. These drawings were made during Barks' 96th year, printed in full color and tipped into the book, which was issued in an edition of 1000 copies signed on a limitation sheet. The book is bound in black cloth stamped with gold lettering, with an unprinted, embossed gold dust jacket, and housed in an oversize folding clamshell box, measuring about 13 inches square. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket and near fine clamshell case. This is copy 249 of 1000 with the limitation certificate signed by Barks. Note: book padded with 'City of Duckburg' fake currency, as issued!
