Description
A Hermès silk waistcoat, from the collection of Cameron Silver. The 100% white silk vest contrasted by rich forest green panels and exquisitely detailed baroque motifs in gold and black. The front features two bold vertical white panels flanked by green borders, each showcasing a repeating pattern of a classical helmet and shield, crossed swords, and ornate scrollwork. The front closure is accented with a central green panel and domed silk buttons. Made in France. The back shows a majestic, centered image of a gentleman on horseback in 17th or 18th-century military-style dress, rendered in rich green, white, and gold, framed by a delicate white foliate border and an equestrian-themed trim of belts, tassels, and snaffles across the lower back. This item highlights how naturally great tailoring works across genders. On males, the vest appears as originally intended: clean, sharp, and classic. On females, shaping the vest creates a more sculpted, voluminous look. Displaying the looks side by side reflects what Vogue Austria writer Laia Garcia-Furtado described as “the rejection of algorithm-driven fashion trends… and a call for people to stop googling ‘how to create a personal style’ and look within.” The idea of “borrowing from the boys” isn’t new, but here it serves as a reminder that strong design is inherently unisex. One suit, two bodies, endless possibilities.Founded in 1837 as a harness workshop, Hermès is the epitome of timeless craftsmanship and refined luxury. From iconic Kelly and Birkin bags to impeccably tailored clothing, every piece is carefully handcrafted, reflecting the house’s dedication to quality and detail. Hermès blends tradition with subtle innovation, creating garments and accessories that are elegant, enduring, and unmistakably sophisticated.Cameron Silver, founder of Los Angeles’ iconic boutique Decades, has redefined how the city dresses since 1997.
