Description
The crystal chess table is 28.5 cm high and 47 cm in diameter. It was used for sacrificial ceremonies or as an office accessory during the Han Dynasty or the Wei-Jin period. It was influenced by the Taoist concept of "Yin-Yang and Five Elements". The natural crystal (or glass) has obvious staining and weathering marks. It is made using polishing, inlaying, and painting techniques. The tabletop is rectangular, and the table legs are arc-shaped. The front side is painted with "Tai Chi Diagram" and "Double Camel Pattern". A crystal vase is placed on the tabletop. The craftsmanship is simple and the style is mysterious. It belongs to the Han Dynasty or the Wei-Jin period (before the Ming Dynasty). Crystal products were extremely precious in ancient times. This table has a unique theme and is an important physical object for studying ancient Taoist culture and crystal craftsmanship.
