
Description
This gearing class destroyer served the Navy from 1944 until 1971. She participated in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam unti de-commissioned in 1971 and transferred to the Greek Navy. Gearing Class ships were 390 feet in length and were powered by steam turbines to a speed of 37 knots. A total of 98 were constructed in eight yards around the country. This waterline model appears handmade from wood and brass. The 5 double Bofor batteries were replaced with 3D printed units after lead rot claimed the original units. The case is 28" long x 5" wide x 7 1/2" high. 7 1/2"H x 28"W x 5"D.
