Description
This is a lovely waterline model similar to the work of Charles Fox or Ron Hughes. It appears to be constructed mostly of wood, brass, and cardstock, and sits on a convincing and well rendered sea base. Wanstead was launched in 1949 in Dundee for Caledon Shipbuilding and Engineering. Through her career she was known as Port Wanstead, Raeburn, Wanlu, and Maldive Explorer before being scrapped at Gadani Beach in 1978. The model maker is unknown. At 18" long by 4 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" high, the sealed glass and wood case can fit almost anywhere. 5 1/2"H x 10"W x 4 1/2"D.
