This poster announced Quicksilver Messenger Service, Leon Russell, Blodwyn Pig, and Fritz at the Aztec Bowl in San Diego on August 2nd, 1970. Although they were not as commercially successful as some of their contemporaries like Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service was integral to the start of the San Francisco sound. With their jazz and classical influences, as well as a strong folk background, the band created an individual, innovative sound.
