Eberhard Rees and Ernst Stuhlinger autographed 10.5 × 8.5-inch U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing souvenir postal sheet commemorating American space achievements. Issued for the 15th International Stamp Exhibition (INTERPEX), New York, March 9–11, 1973, the sheet features Fort Bliss Centennial postage alongside a blue-toned vignette of a Saturn launch vehicle, honoring the foundational rocket research that enabled lunar exploration. Both Rees and Stuhlinger have signed the lower right corner in ink, associating the piece directly with two principal architects of the Saturn and Apollo programs.
Fine condition.
Eberhard Rees (1908–1998) was a senior NASA engineer and administrator who served as Director of the Saturn V Program at Marshall Space Flight Center, overseeing the development of the launch vehicle that carried Apollo astronauts to the Moon. A close collaborator of Wernher von Braun, Rees played a vital role in translating German rocketry expertise into American spaceflight success.
Ernst Stuhlinger (1913–2008) was a pioneering aerospace scientist and one of NASA’s leading visionaries in propulsion technology. As Associate Director for Science at Marshall Space Flight Center, he contributed to the Saturn program and later became a foremost advocate for electric and ion propulsion. Dual-signed material linking Rees and Stuhlinger is especially desirable for collectors of Apollo-era engineering and administrative history.
