Franklin D. Roosevelt autographed typed letter (TLS) as Governor of New York, dated August 17, 1932, at the Executive Chamber in Albany. The document commands Samuel Ungerleider to appear and testify in proceedings concerning charges against New York City Mayor James J. Walker. Roosevelt has signed at the conclusion as “Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor.”

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945) was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. Prior to his presidency, Roosevelt served as Governor of New York from 1929 to 1932, where he built the reform-minded reputation that propelled him to the White House. He led the nation through the Great Depression and most of World War II, implementing the New Deal and reshaping the role of the federal government in American life.
