French Antique Bronze Ormolu Marble Figural Clock

Description

French 18th Century, a Louis XV style mantel clock featuring a seated female figure cast in gilt bronze holding a tablet beside a circular enamel dial with Roman numerals. The modeled figure is rendered in flowing classical drapery and posed in a contemplative manner, reflecting allegorical themes. The circular white enamel dial is set within a gilt bronze bezel and fitted with Roman numeral hour markers, with the movement protected by hinged convex glass covers at both the front and back. The clock is mounted on a shaped white marble base accented with bronze trim and a central decorative panel, harmonizing with the gilt bronze superstructure and reflecting 18th century French revival craftsmanship. No apparent maker's marks. Provenance South American Collection.

Dimensions: 13 X 12.5 X 4.5 in.

Condition: Good to fair overall antique condition with normal age-related patina and surface wear. Visible discoloration and signs of prior restoration present on the marble.
