A Large Aleut Kayak Model

Description

A finely constructed model baidarka (kayak), crafted with a wood frame and covered in seal gut, with additional animal hide elements, reflecting traditional Unangax? watercraft construction. The elongated form features feather adornments at the bow, including three decorative elements incorporating walrus tusk and a green stone, tentatively identified as jade. Accompanied by a harpoon and paddle, both with walrus tusk points and blades; the paddle blade is signed illegibly and marked “STG.” The string connecting the paddle blade and shaft is detached, as photographed. Measures approximately 40" x 3.5" x 3.5" high.
