Description
Welsh oak tall case clock with a broken pediment hood surmounted by a brass eagle at the center, the scrolling swan-neck pediment ends terminating in applied roundels. The hood is supported by slender columns and encloses a painted iron dial signed “H. Evans, Llangadock.” The dial features a Roman numeral chapter ring, a subsidiary date aperture above the 6 o’clock position, and decorative floral spandrels, with the arch painted with a pastoral fishing landscape scene. Fitted with pierced brass hands and a thirty-hour weight-driven movement striking on a bell. The case is constructed of solid oak with a molded waist door and paneled base. Measures approximately 81" H x 18" W x 9 1/2" D. Case is in good condition with signs of shrinkage to the wood; movement should be serviced.
