Oil on linen by American artist Frederick Buchholz (1901-1983), born in Massachusetts. His work reflects scenes of American life during the Great Depression, often depicting industry and genre subjects. This composition features a farmer carrying a scythe along a road within a surrounding pastoral landscape, rendered with strong use of color. The scene conveys a vivid sense of American rural life and labor. Housed in a black frame. Frame measures approximately 26" H x 37 1/2" W x 2 1/4" D. Good condition with minimal wear. One repair to reverse.
