
Description
American triple decker mantle clock by Birge & Gilbert, circa 1840s, housed in a flame mahogany case with turned columns and three glass panels. The lower panel contains a period lithograph depicting a man and woman seated at a table, the gentleman reading from a book while the woman listens beside him, rendered in typical mid-19th century parlor scene fashion. The clock features eight-day movement with a decorated dial and gilt embellishments surrounding the numerical face. Measures approximately 36" H x 19 1/4" W x 16 1/2" D. Some wear present. Timekeeping capabilities untested.
