Description
Original 18th century etching executed in the classical taste with mythological figures, depicting the Cyclops Polyphemus wooing the sea nymph Galatea. Each figure is defined with careful, deliberate rendering. Housed in a wood frame with a gilt liner. Perhaps inspired by an Italian artist like Carracci or a follower. Frame measures approximately 20 1/4" H x 29 3/4" W x 1 1/2" D. Some spots of paper toning and overall discoloration to the mat; frame in good condition with minor edge wear.
