Official royal decree issued by the imperial chancellery, manuscript in ink with gold leaf laid on paper. The main body of text is written in elegant black Divani script and features a large, masterfully executed tughra of Sultan Selim III, rendered in gold and meticulously illuminated with polychrome floral details in the distinctive “Turkish Rococo” style. The firman would have served as a legally binding imperial order. Housed in a wood frame. Aged patina present. Measures approximately 31 1/4" H x 20 1/4" W. Age-appropriate discoloration to the surface.
