Studio pottery vase by Ben Owen III of Seagrove, North Carolina, whose family lineage of potters in North Carolina dates to the late 1700s. Like his grandfather, Ben III blends traditional Southern forms with strong Asian influences. This example features a graceful, yet robust curving form finished in a rich Chinese red glaze, reflecting those Asian inspirations. Signature and date, 1998, incised on the underside. Measures approximately 12" H x 6" diameter. Good condition.
