A hand-formed, creature-like pottery vessel by Theo Sable featuring a globular body supported on three stout, expressive legs. The surface is decorated with a dynamic combination of applied spikes and impressed circular and grid patterns, finished in a multi-tonal glaze. Signed "Theo" on the underside. Theodora "Theo" Sable was a New York artist and designer who combined creativity with business vision; after teaching at Fordham University, she launched her jewelry design business in 1976 and exhibited in the Young Designers Room by 1978. Known for realistic, story-driven designs, she became recognized as a leading designer of her time. Measures approximately 3'' H x 3 1/4'' W x 3 3/4'' D, Some wear to surface, loss to one of the spikes.
